Düsseldorf is the capital and, after Cologne, second most popular city of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is common for most expats looking to move here to be concerned about the language barrier, but English-speaking jobs are avaialble for those who are well qualified and have work experience (with a little German language knowledge). With the German worker shortages, jobs here in many sectors are easy to come by as skilled workers are in high demand.
Düsseldorf has something on offer for every mood, from their chic shopping street Königsallee through to the harbour where the big names in architecture have their buildings on show. There are many fairs throughout the summer alongside many cultural options and a beautiful old town to explore. Food options are endless!
The words efficient, inexpensive and easy come to mind for travelling around Düsseldorf. Public transport is provided by the Rheinbahn AG and they operate buses, streetcars and the subway (Stadtbahn). The train station is central and a short walk or taxi ride away from most popular destinations. The airport is also very easy to get to and from.
